A genuine M.I. Hummel "Little Thrifty" Bank (HUM 118) by W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik of Germany — one of the most beloved figural coin banks in the entire Hummel collection. This charming hand-painted porcelain figurine depicts a small child standing on tiptoes, reaching up to drop a coin through the slot at the top of a tall stacked column. The child wears the signature Hummel-style outfit: a green smock layered over an orange polka-dot pinafore, gray socks, and dark shoes, with rosy cheeks and the gentle, downcast expression that has made these figurines beloved worldwide for nearly a century.

The bank functions: coins drop through the slotted top into a chamber within the porcelain column, and the original metal locking coin plate on the underside (with key slot) allows access to deposited savings. Marked "Germany" with the Goebel trademark stamp on the underside.

M.I. Hummel figurines are based on the artwork of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel, a Franciscan nun whose drawings of children inspired the Goebel porcelain factory beginning in the 1930s. The "Little Thrifty" bank was first introduced in 1963 and remained in production through several trademark periods, making it a beloved gift for first communions, christenings, baptisms, and graduations across generations.

This is a meaningful collectible piece with both display value and the sentimental weight of a true keepsake.
